Pricing: The pricing for the Boys and Girls Club can be sectioned-off into two different payment plans. Their program cost $20 per week or $80 per month.

Programs Available:

    • Smart Kids: This program helps develop social, creative and critical thinking skills for the children of the Boys and Girls Club. One prominent example of developmental thoughts that this program tries to foster is to push the children to investigate “Why am I special?”
    • Smart Moves: This program strives to teach the children interpersonal abilities such as maintaining postive self esteem, working well and getting along others, fostering effective communication amongst others, and creating a sense of unity through team building.
    • Passport to Manhood: As male-only program, Passport to Manhood works to connect with the male youth of the area. Through this program these young boys learn social skills, discuss topics affecting them at school, and learn about how to maintain healthy relationships with both themselves and others.
    • Street Smart: This all-inclusive program’s is to prevent gangs and gang participation within the Burlington community. Street Smart teaches the youth how to be aware of pressure that gangs might be placing upon them and positive ways to remove themselves from these harmful situations.
    • Girl Talk: The sister-program to Passport to Manhood, Girl Talk teaches young girls social skills, discusses topics affecting them at school; teaches active ways to prevent peer pressure andpoor self image, and also ways in which to prevent drug and alcohol abuse and usage.
    • Power Hour: This program takes place from 3pm to 4pm on Monday through Thursday. During this time study time is split up based off grades. It is through this programs that the children can receive one-on-one tutoring sessions through Elon University students. This program works to strive to teach students to learn independently.

Staff to Children Ratio: The staff to youth ratio changes with the programs. However there is always at least one volunteer and one staff member leading each of the Boys and Girls Club daily programs. The recommended staff to child ratio for each of our different program sectors is as follows:

  • Youth Programs: 2 staff members to every 20 children
  • Character Building Programs: 2 staff members to every 14 children
  • Community Youth Programs: 2 staff members to every 16 children

What schools participate in the Boys & Girls Club? The Boys and Girls Club has a large base of students within the Alamance county region. The following are the schools that participate in these programs, sectioned off into educational levels:

Elementary School: Haw River, Eastlawn, R. Homer Andrews, North Graham, South Graham, Hillcrest, Grove Park, Harvey R. Newlin Elementary School.

Middle School: Broadview, Graham, Turrentine Middle School.

High School: Hugh M. Cummings, Grapham, Sellars-Gunn Education Center, Walter M. Williams High School.

Other: River Mill Academy.

Hours of Operation: During the school year the Hours of Operation are 2pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Also during the summer months the hours of operation are from 6.30am to 5.30pm daily!

Membership: The After School Program has an average daily student attendance is around 105 children per day. The Summer Program has an average daily student attendance of 100 children per day.
